Design Strategy
In collaboration with Gay Gaming Professionals and web developer Eric Jacobsen, I led the logo and brand identity for the Collegiate Games Challenge. Inspired by classic video game aesthetics—including Atari, Monkey Island, and Pac-Man—we drew from 8-bit color palettes, pixel-based visuals, and CRT scan lines while also looking to the bold visual language of modern athletic brands.
Our goal was to create a brand that paid homage to gaming's history while capturing the energy and competitive spirit of collegiate athletics, giving game design students an identity they could rally behind. Leaderboard-inspired elements, bold typography that subtly breaks down into pixels, and a flexible visual system bring together nostalgia and contemporary competition in a way that feels both familiar and forward-looking.
