Park Notes
Packaging | Editorial Design
An educational-interactive field guide series encouraging urban students & educators to explore their local neighborwoods.
Creating a Voice for Multiple Audiences
Park Notes simultaneously speaks to educators, parents, and children (ages 8-11). The visual and verbal language is tailored to make learning accessible, easy, and engaging. Whether in the classroom or at home, the colorful illustrations and step-by-step activities are designed for parents, teachers, and students to create their own adventure.
Design Strategy
Readers will have the opportunity to navigate three ecosystems in Central Park: the East Meadow, the South Pond, and the North Woods. Each activity book features curriculum-based learning exercises guided by our urban buds (Travis the Turtle, Amelia the Squirrel, and Flo the Bird).
Design choices include playful serifs, higher point sizes, colorful photography, hand-drawn illustrations, and youthful textures to engage students.
With our field guides in hand – students, teachers, and parents are ready to explore.
